We've had a longer than normal Spring with lots of rain (good!) and wind (bad!) but Summer is here. Memorial weekend was BEAUTIFUL, it made me extremely thankful to live in such a beautiful area. The beaches warm, waves peeling, warm rose reflecting off the golden hills at sunset, I think we live in paradise.
Baby news:
Colby news:
I got in the water to surf for the first time in almost 2 years, and boy have I missed it. It's certainly not like it use to be, can't just bolt over the ocean and jump in anymore. And it's not like riding a bike, darn it! I'm super excited to get back to it a little more regularly, Summer is a good time because the waves are usually on the smaller side.
Zoe is really enjoying eating solid food, although she did have a bout of constipation. Didn't realize how important it was to make sure to give her water with her food. Seems like she breast feeds so much that liquid would be taken care of, but not so much. I have to say, seeing your baby constipated is so terrible, but a little bit funny at the same time. Her poor little body was trying so hard.....butt down, head up, bulging eyes, red brow, and taut lips....it's saddly funny. We're hoping to avoid that scenario again.
Right now her favorite food is zucchini, but she likes peas, carrots, apple, pear, banana (also learned that banana and apple, probably pear too, are constipating, who knew?!), watermelon. The only thing she's not a fan of is avocado, but we're still trying. She eagerly pulls our hand to her when she's eating. She knows now when she's in the high chair she's about to eat and starts banging on the tray.

Ok, I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna announce this to you all so it will make me do it.... I am planning on running a 25K (that's about 15 miles) trail race on August 15. I guess now I need to sign up for it, then it will really be official. So I am running quite a bit, Zoe and Hurley are logging quite a few miles also. Hurley runs about 25 miles each week with me, not bad for a little 6.5 pounder, huh?
John news:
John has one more week of classes, then finals, then it's summer break for him. He'll still work, just not teaching classes which will offer more flexibility and freedom. I think he's looking forward to both of those.

one, two, threeeeeeee

There are a ton of colorful flags hanging from the ceiling that Zoe LOVES to look at, makes floating on her back even more fun.

Some how there's an inherent difference in the way mommies feed babies and the way daddies feed babies....case in point.
Give it! I will feed myself!
suck, slurp, suck, smack
Yes!
The flag and the joker rattle on the castle themed exersauser are her faves.
Zoe helping me water the garden
My new trick!!!!
John's mom recently sent us John's baby picture album. It was fun to look through it and see pictures of him as a baby and compare them to Zoe. But when we got to Uncle George's addition to the family, the resemblance was obvious. We think Zoe looks A LOT like Uncle George, what do you think?
chomp, chomp.....food good

Really fun to see old baby pics of John and George. So much resemblance! But still, any picture of your mom holding her, I totally see something there, too. Very cool. Beautiful girl. :-)
